Any landscaping project takes time to put together. You need to lay it out in your head, then transfer it to paper and then put it in place by shifting the present into what you envision. After it’s all said and done, you look it over and think you’d like to light up certain areas after dark. There may be a special tree or plant you may want to highlight. Perhaps, you’d even like to light up you house numbers or your pool area. You may even want to line a pathway or light up a flower or plant arrangement. The question to be answered is how to do all this.

There are several ways to light up areas and all require some thought before putting forward the effort and expense. You can hard-wire in any number of lights which may require you to dig up some of your landscaping to lay in the wiring. That may be okay but what if after all is done; there still are other areas that you want to light up. That would require additional digging and wiring. Again, you may or may not like the effect the lights give.

One way to offer more flexibility in lighting would be to use solar lighting. With these types of lights, all you would need it to have them in an area where it gets some sun throughout the day. They do not do well in shaded areas since they need sun to recharge the batteries throughout the day. This is a contrast to hard-wired lights where this is not a factor.

Using solar lights allows you to move the lights around easily. If you don’t like the way it lights up something, merely move them till it does. Another advantage is that you don’t have to have wiring running to the different areas or dig up your yard to buy them. You can virtually move these lights to anywhere you need lighting. They are totally portable so you can take them to your cabin or second home, you can take them camping and light up your campsite, and you can take them along wherever you go.

Solar Lights come in a variety of types, styles and materials. Some of the main materials are stainless steel, plastic and copper. Where you will place them may be a factor on the type you chose.

There are many styles from which to choose. Some are functional and some novelty. Solar lights come in spot lights of varying types including styles that are just spot lights and some are designed like a rock with a light in them to easily blend in a rock garden. There are solar lights that are lights on poles of varying lengths that can be used to line a pathway or perimeter of a garden. There are lights that can be attached to stairways to light up steps and there are lights to line a pool or deck. There are

There are many types of lights available for many different types of applications. This type of lighting gives a lot of flexibility for lighting. The only requirement is that they be located in an area that does get some sun throughout the day. They are a definite alternative to hard wired lights and should be considered when seeking versatile
